Five Minute Friday: Way

This post is part of the Five Minute Friday Free write. No editing, just writing for five minutes on a one-word prompt.

WAY

Which way do I go?

How many different times in your life have you asked yourself this question? I find in my life, I'm asking it on a constant basis. I wish all I needed to tell me where to go or what to do was on a roadmap or in an iPhone.

When I'm lost my GPS is introspective thought, meditation, and Prayer, ALOT of Prayer. The problem with those methods of "navigation" is they don't respond with any clear answers. I'm instead guided reluctantly to the realm of Faith. The realm of faith can be exciting, exhilarating and intoxicating. Faith can be soul-sucking, crushing and defeating. Keeping the Faith week after week, months, years until I've got nothing left to even search for it anymore.

Which way do I go?

I make plans, knowing they are hollow, fragile just beyond reach. I make them anyway, defiantly writing them down in ink. When these plans become reality, I treasure each moment, trying desperately to feel everything. When things go well, it refills my Faith bank a little more. I get a bit braver and make more plans. I begin to make my way again.

Which way do I go?

Today, it will be the results of an MRI that will guide me. I hope the results lead me to physical therapy starting Monday and then back to flight school as soon as I can get there.☺ If not, I guess I'll find a different way, I'll hate it and I'll have no choice. So I'll stay the course, all the while looking for any signs to guide me.

Comments

  1. Emily, I'm encouraged by your determination to keep making plans and to adjust when they don't happen. Praising the God who promises all His plans will be perfected in eternity!

  2. It is so hard when the plans that seem to be good to us don't work out and we can't understand why. That's definitely where faith comes in, trusting that God will show us another way forward. Praying for good results today an that however things turn out God will show you the next step.
